Snooker

dont want to spark any critism or anything of that kind but a guy in the snooker club yesterday said to me the following:

“i think ronnie osullivan is a true genius around the table. i grew up watching snooker since the 70s and if i compared alex to ronnie, i think alex was just a drunk that always played exhibition shots whilst ronnie really is a genius on the table”

i was born in the 90s so didnt watch alex so i wouldnt know.

comments and thoughts please?

when TV got hold of the sport Alex was past his best and therefore many people dont actually know just how brilliant Alex trully was.

he was snookers first superstar with celebrity status of a pop star and with that came hangers on that took advantage of him and he went off the rails.

Alex was a snooker genius because there wasent a blue print for him…Jimmy and Ronnie came later copieng Alex if you like..

as players i Rate Ronnie as second only to Stephen Hendry and he was a better player on better conditions but Alex Higgins was a true snooker genius.he did things with a cue ball ive never seen from anyone else.

just wanted to give Lee some praise. He has received some criticism (in the toronto area) on this board, youtube etc etc. I had my first coaching lesson from him on saturday in toronto and must say i am very impressed and I’m looking forward to my next lesson with him. I think people are a little jealous of him. For example the youtube video comments him are idiotic. The Snooker Hall in question is Annex Billiards and yes it is a 6×12 table and yes he does pot balls very well.

And no, I’m not getting paid to endorse Lee i just want to give him some praise which is well deserved.

I just purchased a table so I’m going to practive the points he has given me and i’ll be right back there with him in august for another lesson.

If anybody wants more info or whatever, please PM me….

its probably best if you asked him that question directly. I’d prefer not to say because his prices may vary a little because i know mine do in business. I am self employed and when a customer is being an f’n idiot, there price is always higher…his price is very reasonable..(trust me)

Plus i see it on how much time its going to save me on the table…if i’m constantly practising but practising wrong, i’m wasting my time which at the end of the day is the most important thing…

I wouldn’t take much notice of the comments made on youtube. From what videos i’ve seen of Lee he looks a quality player, who hits the ball with great authority & has a sound technique!
